HoALM Yarn Care & Info
Intentionally dyed, slowly layered, small-batch yarns.
House of A La Mode Hand-Dyed Yarn
We dye our House yarn in small batches using the same recipes every time, yet each skein will be a touch unique. As is the nature of hand-dyed yarn, there will be some slight color variations between skeins. By purchasing multiple skeins and alternating them within your project, you will best remove the potential for possible pooling of any colors.
We have taken great care to represent the yarn's true colors. However, all computer monitors and devices have subtle color changes, and colors may vary.
Laundering Instructions
For best results, hand-wash all pieces created with HoALM yarn in cool water with a mild wool wash. Soak for at least 15 to 20 minutes, squeeze (do not twist) excess water, shape, and lay flat to dry.
Superwash yarn can be laundered in washing machines on the gentlest of settings.
Turn the object inside out before washing. However, we highly recommend the above method.
There may be some color bleeding in the first few washes of a finished garment, particularly with saturated colors. To minimize bleeding, always use cool to cold water with your wool wash. Don't worry if a little color is left over. If using multiple colorways, swatch and soak first to determine if they will affect one another.
Dye Process
We only use non-toxic, acid dyes with food-grade citric acid (biodegradable and naturally found in foods and water) as the setting agent. After the dyes have been fully exhausted, the yarn is rinsed with a mild wool wash and hung to dry.
